Complete Remedial and New Concrete Capability
Remicon's concrete capability is not limited to patch repairs. Where the existing concrete is no longer suitable for local remediation, we remove and reinstate affected concrete or supply and install new concrete to suit the project scope. A single remedial package combines investigation, demolition, substrate preparation, reinforcement or dowel works, concrete placement, local repairs, grinding, finishing and associated protection.
- Localised concrete repair and patching
- Removal and replacement of defective concrete
- Supply and installation of new concrete
- Concrete slab and infill works
- Dowelled concrete repairs and tie-ins
- Concrete grinding and local level adjustment
- Crack filling and injection
- Grout-based repairs and infill
- Spalling and reinforcement corrosion repairs
- Protective coating preparation and associated asset-protection works
Concrete Crack Repair, Epoxy Filling and Injection
Concrete cracks require very different treatments depending on their width, depth, movement, location and the reason for the repair. Remicon undertakes practical crack preparation and repair in accordance with the nominated methodology. For suitable repairs this involves chasing or V-grooving the crack to create a clean repair profile, removing dust and contaminants, filling with a selected repair material, allowing the system to cure and grinding the completed repair flush where required.
- Crack chasing and V-groove preparation
- Epoxy-based crack filling
- Rigid repair compounds
- Crack injection systems where specified
- Non-shrink grout and compatible filling materials
- Overfilling and grinding flush where required
- Surface preparation before coatings or finishes
Where crack injection is specified, the repair is completed using the nominated injection system and methodology, with product selection, crack preparation, injection requirements and curing following the applicable design, consultant direction and current manufacturer technical requirements. We do not lock the business into one proprietary repair brand.
Concrete Patching, Filling and Non-Shrink Grout
Localised defects, penetrations, voids and damaged concrete are rebuilt using repair mortars, epoxy systems, cementitious products, non-shrink grout or other specified materials depending on the substrate and performance requirement. Remicon prepares the affected concrete mechanically, removes unsound material, cleans the repair area, installs the nominated bonding or priming system and reinstates the repair to the required profile.
- Concrete patching and make-good
- Non-shrink grout application
- Structural grout where specified
- Epoxy and cementitious filling systems
- Local void and penetration infill
- Form-and-pour repairs where appropriate
- Grinding and finishing of completed repairs
Spalling, Concrete Cancer and Reinforcement Corrosion Repairs
Spalling occurs when reinforcement within concrete corrodes and expands, placing pressure on the surrounding concrete and causing cracking, delamination or loss of cover. Remicon undertakes localised spalling and reinforcement-corrosion repairs as part of a documented remedial methodology: removal of loose or unsound concrete, exposure of affected reinforcement to the required extent, preparation and treatment of the steel where specified, reinstatement of the concrete cover using a compatible repair system and finishing or protective coating works where included.
Exposed steel treatment
Where reinforcement or embedded steel is exposed during remediation, Remicon undertakes the specified preparation and treatment before the concrete repair is reinstated. This may include removal of corrosion products, preparation to the specified standard and application of a compatible reinforcement protection or passivation product. Where reinforcement loss, structural capacity or the extent of deterioration requires engineering assessment, Remicon works with the project consultant or engineer and installs the repair in accordance with the issued design.
Dowelled Repairs and Concrete Tie-Ins
Some concrete repairs and new concrete works require mechanical connection to the existing substrate. Remicon undertakes drilled and dowelled repairs where included in the design or agreed methodology: set-out, drilling, cleaning of holes, installation of nominated reinforcement or dowels using the specified anchoring system, reinforcement placement and subsequent concrete or grout reinstatement. Where dowels form part of a structural design, spacing, embedment, diameter, edge distances and anchoring requirements follow the issued design.
Concrete Removal, Replacement and New Concrete
When patch repair is not the appropriate solution, Remicon removes defective concrete and reinstates new concrete, or constructs new concrete elements as part of a wider remedial project, from small local infills through to slabs, hobs, paths, plinths, capping works and other site-specific concrete construction.
- Saw cutting and controlled demolition
- Removal and disposal of defective concrete
- Excavation and sub-base preparation where required
- Formwork
- Reinforcement and dowel installation to the project requirements
- Concrete supply, placement and finishing
- Staged pours where access or sequencing requires
- Curing and protection
- Local grinding or transition works
- Associated make-good after completion
Concrete Grinding and Surface Rectification
Concrete grinding forms part of crack repair, surface preparation, level adjustment and final finishing. Remicon undertakes localised grinding to remove high points, prepare for coatings, smooth completed repairs or create transitions between existing and repaired areas. Grinding allowances and achievable tolerances depend on slab thickness, reinforcement cover, existing levels, drainage requirements and the amount of material that can safely be removed.
Consultant and Manufacturer-Specified Repair Systems
Remicon regularly works in consultant-led remedial environments where the repair product and methodology are nominated by an engineer, remedial consultant or product manufacturer. We review the issued system requirements, source the nominated material, coordinate technical information and install the product in accordance with the project-specific methodology and current manufacturer instructions. Where required, works incorporate inspection and test plans, photographic records, staged hold points and consultant or manufacturer review before subsequent stages proceed.
QA, Hold Points and Documented Delivery
Concrete remediation becomes concealed as the repair progresses. Remicon structures works around defined quality hold points so critical preparation and reinforcement conditions are documented before they are covered. Records include pre-work photographs, crack or defect mapping, substrate preparation, exposed reinforcement condition, product batch details, installation stages, consultant inspections and completed repair photographs.
Concrete Asset Protection
Repairing the immediate defect is only one part of protecting a concrete asset. Remicon combines concrete remediation with joint sealing, protective coating preparation, waterproofing or other measures intended to reduce ongoing exposure and deterioration. This is particularly relevant to carparks, balconies, podiums, façades and exposed concrete elements where moisture, weathering, movement and recurring maintenance affect long-term performance.
Our Concrete Repair Process
- Inspect and define the defect Review cracking, spalling, damaged concrete, reinforcement exposure and the surrounding conditions.
- Confirm the repair methodology Use the project design, consultant direction, manufacturer requirements or an agreed remedial methodology appropriate to the defect.
- Establish access and protection Set up safe access, exclusion zones, dust and debris controls and protection appropriate to the occupied environment.
- Remove and prepare Chase cracks, mechanically prepare surfaces or remove unsound concrete to the required extent.
- Reinforcement and dowel works Prepare and treat exposed steel or install specified dowels and reinforcement where required.
- Install the repair system Apply the nominated epoxy, grout, repair mortar, concrete or proprietary system in accordance with the project requirements.
- Cure, finish and protect Allow the repair to cure, grind or finish where required and apply associated protection or coatings where included.
- Inspect and close out Complete hold-point records, photographs and consultant or manufacturer review where required by the project.

Verify before publishing: do not describe all cracks as structural or imply one repair method suits every crack. Do not state epoxy injection or rigid filling accommodates active movement unless the system supports it. Consultant or manufacturer review is project-specific, not automatic certification of every repair.
